About Trivial

Trivial is a trivia game whose questions are written the moment you ask for them. Pick a topic — one of ours, or anything you type — and the game builds a round for it.

Why generated questions

Traditional trivia apps ship a fixed bank of questions. Play often enough and you stop answering and start remembering: you recognise the question rather than knowing the answer. It also means the topics are whatever somebody decided to write, which is never quite the thing your particular group of friends is obsessed with.

Generating each round solves both. The pool does not run out, and the topic can be as specific as you like — a band, a decade, a book series, a city, an inside joke with a factual basis. The trade-off is that generated questions need checking, so answers are graded server-side and every question is moderated before it reaches a room.

Built to be played together

Most trivia is social, so Trivial is built around a room: everyone answers the same question at the same time, scores update live between rounds, and you can throw the question up on a TV while everyone answers on their own phone. There is a solo game for the bus, and a pass-and-play mode for a table where not everyone wants to install an app.

Free, with a subscription for more

Trivial is free to play with ads and a set of everyday topics. Trivial Plus removes the ads and unlocks every topic, hard mode, hosting, custom decks and a monthly hint allowance. Ads and the subscription are what pay for the generation behind every round.

Who builds it

Trivial is made by FlayrLabs. It is available on the App Store and on the web. Questions, bugs and feature requests all go to support@flayrlabs.com and we do read them.
