Trivial Plus

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Trivial free?

Yes. The free tier gives you everyday topics and a few generated games a day, supported by ads. Trivial Plus is a subscription that removes ads and unlocks everything else.

Do I need an account?

Yes — you sign in with Apple or Google. An account is what keeps your scores, streaks, hint wallet and Plus subscription attached to you across devices, rather than to one browser.

Where do the questions come from?

They are generated by a large language model for the topic and difficulty you chose, then graded server-side. Because they are written per game rather than pulled from a fixed bank, two games on the same topic will not be the same game — and the pool never runs dry.

Is the answer checking strict?

It depends on the mode. Casual play forgives typos, accents and a leading "the", so you are not punished for fast thumbs. Ranked is stricter, because a rank should reflect what you knew, not how generously you were marked.

Can I play with friends?

Yes, three ways. Host a room and share the code so everyone plays the same questions live on their own phones; pass a single phone around with Pass and Play; or cast a room to a TV so the big screen carries the question while everyone answers on their own device.

What is Don't Copy Me?

A multiplayer mode where repeating an answer someone else already gave does not count. It turns a trivia round into a race for the answer nobody else thought of.

What are hints, and how do I get more?

50/50 removes two wrong options, Letter reveals the next letter of a typed answer, and Skip reveals and scores the question. They share one wallet of tokens. You can earn a token by watching a short ad, buy a pack, or get a monthly allowance with Trivial Plus. The round clock pauses while an ad or the hint shop is open.

What do I get with Trivial Plus?

No ads, every topic, hard mode, the ability to host rooms, custom decks you write yourself, and a monthly hint allowance.

Can I write my own questions?

Yes. Trivial Plus includes custom decks — write your own questions and answers and play them in a room. Useful for a work quiz, a family round, or a birthday.

Is there an iPhone app?

Yes, Trivial is on the App Store, and the web version plays in any modern browser. Your account, scores and subscription follow you between them.

How do leaderboards work?

There are global and per-topic boards, plus a friends board. Solo and multiplayer scores both count.
